ROME COUNTRY CLUB offers private golf lessons at its facility. Head professional Wesley Cupp has been teaching at the golf course for twenty years and has an extensive and world wide professional playing resume.
(SPEED) GOLF PROFESSIONAL WES CUPP
Wes had a very successful junior golf career – most notably finishing runner-up in both the New York State Junior Boys Championship and the Mexican International Junior in Mexico City. Wes also competed in five consecutive Optimist Junior World Championships from the age of thirteen through seventeen in San Diego, California. He even taught 2013 Masters Champion Adam Scott a lesson way back in 1994. Click here for the proof!
Collegiately he battled for the Division I American University Eagles in Washington, D.C. on an athletic and academic scholarship. He earned team MVP honors twice and was named to the First Team All Patriot League in his senior year. Since graduating, he has competed professionally on the NGA Hooters Tour, won on the Moonlight Tour in Florida, and has made it to the final stage of U.S. Open qualifying twice. Currently, Wes has transitioned to the sport of speedgolf and has competed all over the globe the past four years. He spent nine months as the world #1 speedgolfer and is currently the world #4.
Wes won the 2016 New York Speedgolf Open with a three under par 69 in 46:02 and finished second in the 2016 Speedgolf World Championships. Wes also won the 2017 California Speedgolf Open in Ripon, CA with a 73 in 46:07. In 2018, Wes won the Missouri Speedgolf Open in Springfield and also won his first major, the United States Speedgolf Open. He has competed in New York, California, Washington, Texas, Kentucky, Florida, England, New Zealand, Ireland, South Korea, and Japan.
